If you're not familiar with the concept of monkey tennis, see here for an explanation. I use the term to refer to any pointless but entertaining exchange between two people (such as a typical 'two-way' between a TV news presenter and a reporter in the field), or a pointless but entertaining contest between two opponents (for example all Scottish football).
